Can You Cure Panic Attacks?
One of the most common questions I'm asked is "Is there a cure for panic attacks?" That's a great question with a not-so-simple answer. According to one dictionary the word 'cure' means:
- a means of healing or restoring health; remedy
- a method or course of remedial treatment, as
for diseases
- successful remedial treatment; restoration to
health
- a means of correcting or relieving anything that is
troublesome or detrimental
In that context - by definition, yes - I believe there is a cure for panic attacks. However, let's be careful here because if you add a 'd' at the end of that word you get 'cured' which implies that the condition will never return again. That's something that's a little more complicated. Let me explain.
Panic attacks, and all anxiety disorders for that matter, can be as unpredictable as they can become constant. I have seen numerous cases where a person finds an effective panic attack remedy that stops their panic attacks for many, many years before coming back again for no apparent reason. In other cases, the panic attacks never come back. Why is this so?
For one thing, panic attacks are very subjective. We may all suffer from the same problem but experience it in many different ways. There must be fifty or more different physical symptoms that are caused by panic attacks and each of us has our own unique set of those symptoms. We all know how miserable they all are too.
Everyone of us also has different life experiences that factor into our long-term panic attack cure. We may not have a panic attack for years and then have a major life problem trigger anxiety and panic attacks in us all over again. An event such as a car accident, death in the family, money shortage, or maritial problem can all be factors. However, sometimes panic attacks can reoccur for no apparent reason. No trigger. Nothing.
This may be because we have assumed that are panic attacks are cured for good and we have let our guard down. Perhaps we have forgotten those old coping techniques we used to use when panic attacked. Maybe our stress levels have been building over the years and have finally spilled over into panic. Of maybe its just biological.
Here's my theory: the only cure for panic attacks is you. Its all in the space between your ears. Ultimately, only you can stop it and the only way to cure panic attacks for good is to understand what it is, how it occurs, and how to punch it in its ugly face when it rears its head.
That is exactly what Joe Barry's Panic Away will show you how to do. Panic Away will teach you to approach panic attacks from the opposite position from which you most likely have been taught. To not flee anxiety but to embrace it. To not fight it but to tell it to give you its best shot.
